In class we learned alot about the telegraph from how it got started and to when it was later diminished because of advancements in technology. The system started out with 35 wires and started with very short distances. The most relevant invention in the telegraph was when the invention of morse code was introduced by Sammuel Morse. It was a unique combination of dots and dashes to each letter of the alphabet and allowed for efficient transmission of messages over long distances. The telegraph quickly gain popularity, and was wide the use among America. After success in America, it grew to other countries, and eventually telegraph lines were constructed across many countries and continents, connecting distance, cities and regions. Photograph changed communications as a whole by enabling instantaneous messages over long distances to be received and sent. It helped with messages about world news, business transactions, personal communication and more. Telegraph remained the main form of long-distance communication for most of the 19 century until newer technologies, took over such as the telephone.
